M&R Marketing Group in Macon, Georgia is honored to be awarded three Website Design Awards by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) for our innovative work on Read United, WLS Construction, and SoCon Votes.
The award given by GDUSA honors the best website design work of the year. Out of roughly 1,400 websites, a very selective 15 percent were awarded.
Read United
This was a new initiative that we had the privilege of developing an entire campaign for. We wanted the site to be a fun and engaging as a way to help tell the story of why childhood reading skills are so important. Senior Graphic Designer Heather Waldron said,
“Custom animation was created to help support the feeling of following a storyline and connecting the dots that can help raise awareness for literacy challenges.”
Our primary challenge and goal of this site was to create animation effects that clearly communicated information about literacy, seamlessly and unobtrusively. Every line and animation had to be positioned a certain way, and discovering how to connect everything took time. Web Developer Cody Meek said,
“Through a great deal of trial-and-error, and approaching each section of the homepage systematically, we ultimately came up with a solution that scrolled well and met the unique specifications for this particular project. As a team, we went through several ideas before ultimately reaching the final implementation.”
WLS Construction
WLS Construction wanted a website that was unique and stood out from other construction sites. So, we created a site that has unique side scrolling navigation, a custom interactive icon, and heavier use of visuals to showcase the company’s services and projects.
“WLS Construction is a single page site that boasts a functional design on all screen sizes,” said Web Developer John Lechner. “Due to the amount of content, I had to find an innovative way to host all of the content while still producing an aesthetically pleasing website.”
SoCon Votes
This site is meant to bring attention to the declining voting numbers from college students and encourage them to vote. We knew we needed a creative and unique look to catch our readers’ attention. We designed a single page site that uses bold graphics and visuals to engage readers.
“Creating the SoCon Votes website was an opportunity for our team to come up with a new development concept for designing a very intricate, detailed website,” said Lechner. “Our team’s talents and abilities allowed us to create this website that not only serves its purpose but helps change our political future.”
